Clear Channel Airports Unveils Innovative Network of National Displays

First Gesture Technology-Based Signage Launches in Seattle-Tacoma International Airport

Technology Delivers Immersive Advantage for Prospective Advertisers

SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Clear Channel Airports (CCA), the world's leading marketer of airport advertising, has teamed with multi-media company, Monster Media, to create an innovative network of gesture-based digital signage to be featured in select airports across the United States. The inaugural interactive attraction is set to be installed in Seattle-Tacoma International Airport's (Sea-Tac Airport) Central Terminal on Saturday, May 22nd, with plans for a Tuesday, June 1st launch.

Gesture technology enables advertisers to simultaneously entertain and inform consumers by creating a full-body interactive experience. Broadening the boundaries of the powerful out-of-home (OOH) advertising medium, the technology allows for dynamic multi-media imagery to be integrated with branded messaging, generating a one-of-a-kind, immersive encounter for users.

"Clear Channel is redefining the digital out-of-home advertising landscape with cutting-edge display platforms that deliver greater engagement for brands. Through our gesture technology display at Sea-Tac Airport, we're providing advertisers with a new way to deliver truly memorable brand experiences," commented Toby J. Sturek, President, Clear Channel Airports. "And the appeal extends beyond bringing advertisers' messaging to life by delivering built-in audience measurement as the displays track gestures."

According to Airports Council International's annual traffic report, Sea-Tac Airport, the nation's 18th busiest airport, served more than 31.3 million passengers in 2009. It ranked 25th in total aircraft operations and has service to many destinations throughout North America, Europe and East Asia. Sea-Tac Airport travelers will use the motion-detecting wall display that allows for real-time interaction with the advertiser's message.

The wall display is presented on a sleek liquid crystal display (LCD) monitor consisting of nine 46" screens arranged in a 3x3 square grid pattern. The entire unit, including the framework, measures to 91" in height and 144" in width. The multi-touch LCD screen functions as both digital signage and a presentation system for conveying multi-media information. Users interact with multi-touch applications by pointing at or touching the screen.
