Clear Channel Outdoor Adds Milwaukee to Amber Alert Readiness; Wisconsin Attorney General Announces Successful Test
Clear Channel Outdoor (NYSE:CCO) today announced the successful conclusion of the Wisconsin Amber Alert test on six digital billboards serving the Milwaukee area. The boards are located on key freeway sites within the metropolitan area.
The billboards are the newest addition to the Wisconsin Amber Alert System and were part of a state-wide test in recognition of National Missing Children's Day, according to a news release issued by Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen.
"We could not be more excited about our ability to utilize our digital technology to provide this invaluable community service, which will be available to the Milwaukee market not only when a child is missing but also during a wide array of other community emergencies," said Paul Meyer, Global President of Clear Channel Outdoor. The digital billboards made available for use during Amber Alert activation will enable law enforcement to disseminate both text information and any available photographs when a child has been abducted.
Clear Channel Outdoor has successfully joined Amber Alert networks in Minneapolis, Cleveland, and a number of other Clear Channel markets.
AMBER is an acronym for "America's Missing: Broadcasting Emergency Response." It was named for nine year-old Amber Hagerman, who was abducted and murdered in Arlington, TX, in 1996.
